SEISS Grant - 4th Claim

As from Tuesday 27th April you can now claim the 4th Self-Employment Income Support Scheme (SEISS) grant.

The grant is for the period 1st February 2021 and 30 April 2021.

The last day you can claim this grant is 1st June 2021.

You should have received an email from HMRC, notifying you of the claim window opening, if you have claimed an SEISS grant in the past.

If you have not had an email, you can follow this link and it will take you to the claims site.

The basic eligibility criteria are set out in the above link.

The eligibility tests are being made more stringent, with each new SEISS grant. Aside from the basic eligibility criteria you also have to:

  • Have a Reasonable Belief that you will have suffered a significant reduction in trading profits between 1st February 2021 and 30 April 2021; and

  • Before you make a claim, you must decide if the impact on your business will cause a Significant Reduction in your trading profits for the tax year you report them in.

The good news is you do not have to consider other Covid support schemes, that you may have benefited from, when considering the above tests.

There are some examples on the HMRC website that you may want to read.

There has been a significant increase in scam emails, calls and texts. I bet Asquith & Co staff hear about one or two per week, at least.

If someone gets in touch claiming to be from HMRC, saying that financial help can be claimed or that a tax refund is owed, and asks you to click on a link or to give information such as your name, credit card or bank details, please do not respond.

Please also check that the website links you use start with in the website address bar. This is the governments website address and you cannot make a claim anywhere else.
